6 weeks ultrascan

This morning at around 7am nancy woke me up and complained of stomach cramps.....she was worried that there is something wrong with the baby so she asked me to accompany her to the gynae later. So I applied leave from my boss.

We went to the women's clinic in jurong point but went we reached there, we found out that the clinic was closed the whole day on wednesday! So we have no choice but to go to the jurong east one. When we reached the jurong east clinic, it was closed for lunchtime! We went for lunch first then waited at the hawker centre until 2pm before going to the clinic.

The gynae then did a ultrascan to check if there is any problem.

Posted by Picasa

The results of the ultrascan showed that the baby is 6 weeks and 1 day old and the delivery date will be 20th Febuary 2007 which is chinese new year according to the gynae. The baby is in the correct position and we even got to see the baby's hearbeat! The gynae said that nancy's stomach cramps are probably due to the womb expansion so there is nothing wrong. We also did a blood test and nancy requested for some flu tablets.

Total damage = $120 for first consultation + $100 for blood test + $4 for flu tablets = $224

Pregnancy Test

Nancy's period was late by a few days so we decided to go to watson's to get a pregnancy test kit......

According to the box, if two lines means that you are pregnant and one line means you are not pregnant....

And the results show.....

two lines which means that Nancy is pregnant!!!!Nancy suggested that we go to a GP to confirm the results. I told her that the pregnancy test kit is already 90 over percent accurate but if she still wanna go doctor to confirm than okie loh...

We went to the clinic and the doctor said that if the pregnancy kit showed that it is positive then it is most likely to be accurate.

The clinic also used a pregancy test kit to test and we asked what is the difference between the one they using and the ones sold in the shops. The one they using is bought from hospitals one, cannot be found in the shops... And the result is also the same as the one tested earlier - positive.

The doctor than asked nancy when was her last period and used something to calculate that nancy is 1 month pregnant and if everything goes well, the delivery date should be somewhere in 1st March 2007.2007 is the year of the pig, which means that the baby will be the same zodiac as my dad!

A busy Saturday

Yesterday was a busy day.......I was out the whole day and I think I was at home for less than 1 hour! I went to play soccer in the morning at ngee ann poly with my usual group of friends at 9am.After soccer at around 12.30pm, I rushed home to bathe and change clothes and went out again at around 1.15pm. I have to attend two weddings today, a church wedding in the afternoon and a wedding dinner in the evening....all by the same person....which is my poly friend sally and her husband andy.

This is a photo that I took in the cab with my wife.....

The church wedding was somewhere in telok blangah road and as sally's husband is a sign-on army officer, there were about 8 sword bearers for the church wedding. When the pastor came in, I found him quite familar and then I remembered where I saw him before. He was the same pastor for cindy's church wedding! I confirmed it with cindy who was just sitting in front of me....Here is a photo of my poly friends with sally and her husband taken during the church wedding reception....

The event ended around 4.30pm and I accompained nancy until her course starts at 6pm...As it was her first lesson, I walked with her to the place the course is held which is also along telok blangah road.....After that I took a bus to City Hall and went to Funan centre to take a walk as I still had time before the wedding dinner.

I reached Raffles the Plaza at 7.30pm and we were maded to stand outside until 8 something before we were allowed to go to our tables.....I found the bouquet of flowers and candle quite nice so I decided to take a photo of it.....

As usual with chinese wedding dinners, the dinner started late at around 9 something and the swordbearers were back again.....

The couple passed throught the first pair of swordbearers but when they came to the second pair of swordbearers,Sally and Andy were not allowed to pass....They had to complete a series of tasks at the next 3 pairs of swordbearers! The tasks were :

1. For Sally to sit on Andy and Andy to do 5 pushups...
2. For Andy to say " I Love You" in 6 Languages
3. For Andy and Sally to Kiss for 1 minute

Of the course the couple completed the challenges and proceeded to the stage to cut the wedding cake. The wedding then proceeded as normal and ended at 11.30pm! Just nice for me to take the last West-bound MRT home......

"Sharon" the Pet Snail

One day while we were on our way home, Nancy saw a snail in the middle of the pavement and picked it up to play with it. She said:" Why not we bring this snail back and keep it as a pet?". I was thinking who the hell keeps a snail as a pet! Then I told her then if she would be fully in charge of the snail, then she can bring it back home. Nancy said ok and proceeded to pluck leaves for her pet snail.

Then on the spur of the moment, she decided to name her pet snail Sharon. No offence to those reading this blog and your name is Sharon.......hmmm.....wonder how she associated the name sharon with the snail! The snail is kept in a plastic tupperware with the leaves.

Well, actually there are some advantages of keeping a snail as a pet compared to other pets.

1. Low Cost: Cost of Home for snail = 30cents (Cost of a Tupperware), Food for snail = $0 (Just pluck leaves)
2. No Noise Pollution
3. No Smell

Well, I shall see how long will this pet lasts under nancy's care or rather how long before she will get sick of it.......

Father's Day Celebration and Night Cycling

My mother organised an advanced Father's Day Celebration on Saturday at my parent's place. She invited her colleagues, my grandma and a few relatives for a potluck party at the multi-purpose hall. I went over there after my usual weekly soccer at ngee ann poly around 3pm. I went to westmall and bought a mango fruit cake. Aiyah....forget to take photo of the food. There was Chicken Rice, Bee Hoon, roasted chicken wings, guo tia, fish balls, tau suan, etc. Here is a photo of the 5 fathers cutting the Father's Day Cake.

I left at around 8.30pm and had to rush to East Coast Park for Night Cycling organised by CDAC for volunteers. We met at East Coast Macdonalds and proceeded to the bicycle shop at around 10pm to collect our bikes. There were a total of 36 cyclist and we were divided into 6 ride group with each group having a ride leader. We set off at 11pm after checking our brakes, seat level, safetly blinking lights, etc. We had to wear a helmet which was quite uncomfortable throughout the whole journey. There were 2 safety vehicles for our cycling convoy. A car was in front and a lorry was at the back. The lorry was used to carry the bicycles of those who gave up halfway either because their legs were too tired or they can't keep their eyes open anymore. There were about 10 people who gave up halfway during the night cycling.

The whole cycling route was 43km and we rode from east coast park to indoor stadium, kallang river, esplanade, marina south, lau pa sat, alexandra rd, orchard rd, victoria street, kallang rd and stopped at CDAC because of the rain. That was bad news for me because my car was parked at east coast and I had to take a taxi to East Coast just to collect my car....

Cameron Highlands Trip

My wife and I went on a trip to Cameron Highlands during the weekends. This is considered as a mini-honeymoon because Nancy has to go to a course every saturday during the june holidays so we can't go our honeymoon in New Zealand as planned.

We went to Golden Mile Tower to board the coach at 10pm. The coach was a 26-seater and the road to cameron highlands was not very good to sleep in because the road was winding and we were literally pushed from side to side. We reached Bringchang Town at 8.30am and had our breakfast there. We walked around and finally settled for the roti prata stall out in the open.

What is interesting about the roti prata is that it does not come in one whole piece, instead the stallholder has already cut them into small pieces so that all the hard work has been done for you and you can just enjoy the food. But enjoy the food we did not as the roti prata was not very tasty!

After Breakfast, the bus brought us to the Equatorial Hotel. We checked in at about 10pm and went to the room to rest. Below is the photo of the view from the balcony of the hotel room.

After resting for a while, we went to explore the area around our hotel. There was a strawberry farm around the corner so we went to take a look. We found a strawberry that is shaped like a butterfly.

We had signed up for a tour that will bring us to Cautus farm, flower nursery, watercress farm, capcicum farm, etc. The first stop was the catus farm. There were many different type of catus ranging from 1 year old to 20 over years old!!! This is one of the photos I took in the catus farm.

The tour guide also pointed out to us this flower that looks like a lady shoe from the side...

We also went to the flower nursery which is just next to the catus farm.

Here is a photo of the watercress Farm....

Have you even seen a white capsicum??

Wow....have u ever seen so much chrysantemum before??

This is what Nancy bought in just 1 Day!!!!!

She also bought this cute display which caught her eye at the strawberry farm shop.....

We checked out of the hotel at 8.30am the next day and board the coach to singapore at 9am. We reached Singapore at 7.30pm.

PC SHow 2006 and Battery Charger

I went to the PC Show on thursday after work. By the time I reached there, it was already 7pm and it would be closed at 8pm so I have only about 1 hour to walk around. Althought it was a weekday, there were "people mountain people sea" (translate to mandarin). While I was squeezing through the crowd, I heard a few groups of people saying that they are only here to recce today and they will be back on the last day near closing time so as to get the cheapest deals!

My main purpose of going to the PC Show was to look for a cheap and good webcam. After walking around for about 30 minutes, I found what I was looking for and I bought this webcam.

I was looking for a webcam that has a night sensor and this was the first one that I came across. It even has a built in mic and only costs $28 so I decided to buy one to test it out first.

I tested the low lighting sensor and when i used my hand to cover the webcam to simulate the low lighting , the led lights up and brightens up the vidoeo... Well this webcam will be put to good use when I get posted to australia for about 1 month. I can use it for videoconferencing with my wife......

I was trying to find my video camera charger a few days ago and I could not find it. I will be going to cameron highlands with nancy for the weekend so without the charger there was no way to charge my video camera battery! I went to holland village during lunchtime to find. I managed to find the charger at Parisilk and so I bought it.
